We at Taylor Exemplar Academy, feel that kindergarten, being the starting point in all children’s academic life, should be the catalyst for their educational journey. We aim to open a new world of learning to each child “Taylor’ed” to their specific needs.
Kindergarten teachers promote self-discovery and self-awareness. They foster independence and help children gain and use skills necessary for working together as a class and in small groups. Children learn to function as group members, to ask for help, to assist others, to complete a task, and put things away. All children are encouraged to move beyond their current level of understanding.
Our kindergarten is a half-day curriculum that includes the teaching of phonics, Open Court Reading, and Saxon Math. Children also participate in a wide variety of activities such as painting, writing, and general class discussions. They learn about different people, places, and the events that shape the world. They also attend music, physical education, and library classes.
